New Series! "WatRcolors"

I recently attended an art show located in downtown Oklahoma City where I met a bunch of artist who were very good, no, extraordinary painters and thinkers. All put together by a kid named Barrett Tarr. Probably one of the most full hearted positive spirits I've met so far being out here. I haven't really talked to him a whole lot since I've only just met him, but from what I've seen and heard from others, this kid is going to probably change the world. If not, definitely some lives.

These people have gotten together every Sunday for the past 3 months attempting to expand the love and passion of "dreams" and "art" within the area. Each one of these individuals are so unique in their art style and attitudes and it honestly blew me away. Once I finally got around people who wanted to do the same things I want to do, I saw things differently. However, I felt a bit out of place. Why? well probably because EVERYONEOFTHEM were painters. They all know how to paint. Very well. Now, if any of you reading this know absolutely anything about me its that I'm colorblind and detest painting. I always have. Don't let the masses full you. It's not the same as shading with a pencil or using a needle point ink pen to achieve the most accurate of detail. So yeah, I definitely don't fit in when it comes to that. SO what I have decided to do is start out by creating simple yet intricate watercolor and ink paintings!

This is new to me because I absolutely cannot stand painting. I feel so out of control with a paint brush. A paint brush is like a girl. At first you think you understand them. And then out of no where the bristles change shape and they make no fucking sense and just make you upset.

Now, I will admit this... I have been using watercolor pencils to properly place where I want color on my paper. Once I have an idea of some colors I get a brush wet and just start blending colors around. THEN without planning a single thing out I take a brush tipped ink pen and begin drawing on my paper. I love this because the colors make everything stand out while the ink just forms a shape or a character within it all.

But, thats not all. Each painting does have a short story of course. Why wouldn't they?

Now the significance of these paintings are they take me maybe an hour or two, depends if I'm drinking, then maybe like 30 minutes haha. But the significance of these are that I don't spend months on them like I usually do on my pieces. So after I finish them, I scan them, and i'll allow them to be sold if someone would like to purchase one! I need to get my work more out there. So since I cannot afford prints yet like I wish I could I'm settling for this fun little series of watercolor fun.

I decided to call the series "WatRcolors" because I have no clue about color half the time. It's random. I'm colorblind and almost don't care to try to make sense of it anymore. So really, what are colors...

If anyone would like anything custom, or would like to purchase one of my WatRcolors, please feel free to email me at taylornicewaner@yahoo.com!

Thanks so much for your time!

"Mask-or-Aid"

OKAY, SO!

Its been a while since I've done anything, and I mean ANYTHING at all. And I Sincerely apologize... Not that anyone is even keeping up with this or following this at all..

Some pretty heavy shit fell onto me lately. It's leaving me vulnerable, hollow and scared. Found out some things I shouldn't have. The pen to the Wacom Tablet decided to go AWOL, so I'll be saving up some money to buy a new tablet soon. Ive been diving back into music lately which if that ever goes anywhere you will also find that here as well by the way! Ive been behind on bills (FUN), trying to get a friend a job at where I work, because he's been a badass and has helped me out SO MUCH lately its the least I can do. (Thanks Patty-Cake). Yada Yada.. A whole lot of stuff.. so yeah.

Anyway, we don't want to hear about my petty life right now. What we want to hear about is this exciting new project I have in the making!!!!! YAYYYY!!!1!

Okay, so we all know everyone is a slacker at times. Especially at there jobs.. I mean come on, we do the same thing over and over! Of course were gonna act out occasionally. So thats been me the past two days, and with actions such as acting out and doing stupid things I clearly would have gotten written up for if a manager saw me doing them. I productively brewed up an exciting idea that I will take further steps into making it an actual Project/Series/Reality that could be therapeutical for some maybe.

"WUT?" you say?

Oh i'll feed you baby birds..

            "Fear"                                              "The Blind"

THIS IS WHAT I DO WITH MY LIFE, PEOPLE.

Now at first it started out just as fun. And then after I started to think about what I'm going through and what others are going through it clicked.. WE ALL HIDE BEHIND SOMETHING.

Now be it a smile, a laugh, a depressing facade, its something.. We all put on a mask to hide from our problems or the things were going through to help us get through those problem, convincing ourselves we're different.

Now, when I really started to think about it, this got exciting. Ive already talked to a few people about this and they all want to become involved, so I have support which is even more exciting!

The goal of this project/series is for someone to feel comfortable admitting what they hide behind or what they want to hide behind. Im asking people to give me an emotion, a description, or even a word and I'll illustrate it on a random cardboard box or brown paper sack. Why a cardboard box or sack you ask? Well why not? We're human. We're not perfect, and neither are the masks we attempt to conceal ourselves behind. That's the point in the box. Nothing is perfect, you accepting who you are and seeing the imperfections in yourself perfectly, now there ya go.

The next important part of this is I want that person to wear their own suggestion after I've finished it if they feel comfortable or want to. I want them to be involved, and thats exciting for me because all I've ever done is draw a picture. Write a story about it, and throw it up on instagram or some shit. But I'm not alone on this one, I don't want to be. I feel like this will really help people get out who they are and we can all appreciate the aspect of what it is we're doing here.

If anyone is opposed to any of this, well then you have your reasons and you can keep those to yourself. Ive talked to an emotionally scarred person who loved my idea and claimed it was inspiring to them and they absolutely don't care if anyone else is involved, they want to be part of it. And if that means something to someone then thats enough for me to want to attempt to pull something like this off.

If you'd like to take part PLEASE email me at taylornicewaner@yahoo.com

I WILL be needing a photographer to take pictures of each person. Everyone will have a headshot from the torso up and added into the wonderful world of this website, with their option of leaving a short description under their photo.

I hope to hear from people soon!

Welcome to the "Mask-or-Aid'!

Viability!

Hello!

I am happy to announce that my prints turned out awesome!
I couldn't be happier with doing something like this.

I will begin making prints for the others and also begin setting up my e-commerce. Once I'm to the point where I can fully enable the ability to launch my store I shall, and you will all be informed!

Also, I am currently making progress on a clients album art work.
Residents of Purgatory will be receiving a new member soon. Dwelling in the forgotten realm of anguish this lil fellar feeds upon anything and everything it can sink its claws into.

So THANK YOU for being apart of this with me and I'll be back with you all soon with more to come!

-Taylor

Good News Everyone!

Tonight I just ordered 3 test prints of 3 special little void dwellers.

What this means is if these prints seem to come back to me exactly how I want them/expect them too then I can begin setting up the store in which YOU GUYS can purchase a print or 7 of your favorite character!

So now we wait and see what happens, stick around in the mean time!

Thanks!

Until the last leaf falls.

Okay!

So by now I hope everyone has seen my NEW rendition of the Hawaiian Punch Guy I titled "Jones Town" <--- Click Here If Not

So I have been contacted by a fella who was wanting some album art done. He has given me a basic idea of what he wants done so of course I'm gonna put a spin on it and do my best to give this kid what he wants.

On top of that recent news, I have two new pieces in the works still. One at a time obviously, which will take me some time in between my new job.

One of my pieces will go into the long awaited "Depths of the Briny Deep" series. Which I haven't shown much love lately. The other will belong to "Residents of Purgatory".

I am very excited for these next two pieces for they are both recreations of previous art work I've done in the past. A comparison picture will be provided like "Jones Town".

In the meantime "Stay Classy San Diego"!

Welcome to "Jones Town"!

Hey there guys!

I know it's clearly been a long time since there has been some activity happening here. I'm glad to say that I wasn't just half assing my time and slacking off. I just recently got a new job so that's been keeping me pretty busy. ON TOP OF completing my newest installation to my collection of horrors called "Jones Town"!

Now the whole entire idea of "Jones Town" happened a LONG time ago.  Back when  was in high school. From time to time I'd stop drawing and try picking it up during the day after school or on some days off from work. So one day I was just brain storming some ideas. Now this was back when "The Walking Dead" was a brand new show and starting getting huge. So zombies were a really big deal and popular. So I remember seeing a twitter post about an artist turning all these Disney Princesses into zombies and I was like, thats cool.. I wanna do that. So I wanted to think about something that hasn't been done or that would be cool for someone to just be going through google one day and see some iconic character everyone should know. So funny enough I look over and see a can of Hawaiian Punch I had earlier to drink and was like, Okay.

So I started drawing the Hawaiian Punch guy. After I drew him out I started to change aspects of his hands and feet but the big thing to this entire picture was gonna be his face. That needed changing up. So I played around with some things and ended up with a finished picture within little over an hour. I'm pretty sure I used some crappy almost construction paper material and like crayons to color him. So it's safe to say I wasn't planning on doing a better version of this at all.

It was only until recently I was going through my emailed and I had apparently taken a picture of this little guy and thought to my self... man I would love to redo this. So I opened it up in Illustrator and re-did all the line work. Once that was done I got the line work printed out on an 11x14 piece of paper. 11x14 is my favorite size because its not huge but it big enough to hang on a wall comfortably.

Now, I named this piece "Jones Town" because of, well, Jonestown. <--- click to read

If anyone know anything about Jonestown, it was a place ran by a cult leader named Jim Jones. I won't get TOO into the story but Jim Jones ended up killing all his followers because he didn't wanna die alone, simply by spiking the "Punch" during a gathering. I felt this would work out well because after all, my picture was based off the Hawaiian Punch guy who has been zombified and came back from the dead after drinking some really bad punch.

I honestly couldn't be happier with the outcome of how things turned out. With only like an hour or two here and there to add a little more to the picture each time I can say it's taken me long enough to finish this guy but I'm happy I did it.

So here is the comparison of the original and the new rendition of "Jones Town", Thank you!

Update!

Hello everyone!

So I received something in the mail today that pertains to "Residents of Purgatory" and "Depths of the Briny Deep" AND something new. That's right NEW. Something brand spankin' new that hasn't been done and is super exciting. Now all this upcoming work will take me a while with my current situation in my personal life. But rest assure I will begin working as hard as I ever did and I couldn't be more excited to show you all what's in store.

Thanks!

"The Daily Damed"

Hello!

Recently I've been doing some quick drawing on the spot while at work with what ever I can find laying around. Now I'm a serious worker but when I'm standing there for nearly 3 hours alone with no customers I get bored. So I figured why not continue doing what I love!

I've decided to call this little series "The Daily Damed". They aren't gonna be pictures that took me weeks of small detail and work to finish. But rather quick hour or so sketches with like a mechanical pencil or anything that was just laying around.

Im really excited about this series mainly because it's one where I can just quickly draw something and show you guys what I can come up with on the spot. And like all great sketches, some I may really REALLY enjoy and I may just RE-do them into an actual final picture down the road. So hang out and stick around and lets see how things turn out!

Thanks!

Say Hello to "Stanley"!

A new being has been spotted roaming the desolate fields of Purgatory. He is known by the name "Stanley". They say that Stanley hasn't always wandered around purgatory but that he actually used to be a human. A hunter of some sort. But unfortunately that is all we know about Stanely.

But wait a minute.. We want to know more about Stanley, right? So maybe we should just read his story. His story was found written on a piece of some sort of dried out flesh resembling parchment like papaya paper. It was picked up around the area Stanley was last spotted. We can only assume he wrote it, seeing as how it is all written in a first person point of view. So in a way I believe its more of a type of "Journal". WHO KNOWS. But just click on the link down below and you can find out what it says.

Story of "Stanley"

Releasing the LEVIATHAN.

The "Leviathan" is a new addition to the "Depths of the Briny Deep" series.

Originally, I was gonna name it the "Bottomfeeder" but once I continued to work on the beast I had a different story of what the monster went through so I decided on a name change. It suited it pretty well in my opinion.

I got the idea of the "Leviathan" from a mixture of things, I wanted something that was feared, like a legendary sea monster with really big tentacle arms, but then later didn't turn out to be arms but more like ear looking things that hung from the head. I got the idea of the head from the "Alien". Having no eyes but being able to sense vibrations underwater seemed appropriate!

I went in a sort of different direction with the lore of the "Leviathan" and I loved it. I brought back a sort of old naval olympian feel. Ive always been a HUGE history buff and I loved stories such as troy and the odyssey. So I think thats why I took the direction I did.

If you wanna read this terrifying sea creatures lore click here

OR you can go to the picture and read it from there.

Thank you for sticking around guys!

"Depths of the Briny Deep"

"Depths of the Briny Deep" was inspired by old pirate tales, mysteries of the seas and just the enigmatic feeling of not knowing what secretly resides in the undertow. The oceans have kept so many secrets from us humans. The lives that were lost, the stories that ended and in my opinion it was just a perfect thing to base an art series upon. It really clicked when I found the absolute enjoyment and beauty of the artwork displayed in the "Bioshock" video game series. The series perfectly captured the mystery on things that lurk in the deep. And I suppose what I was trying to achieve by creating a series like this, was something along the lines of mystery and fright,  especially when it came to what I think would be a good addition to my collection as well as a rendition of something that lives in the ocean. Who knows? Maybe there really is some sort of "Omnibus" down below who hordes and collects sunken treasure from shipwrecks.

My point is, anything relating to the sea is just so interesting to me. So for it being one of my most favorite topics I decided to dedicate a series towards it, and I couldn't be happier of the outcome.

"Residents of Purgatory"

"Residents of Puragtory" just kind of happened to me. Although later it seemed to just make sense. I wanted to develop a realm of living where humans could not comprehend. A place where monsters live, if they're monsters at all, or just simple living beings. So with a little help from my buddy Sam we discussed a sort of place where monsters could dwell and I decided to go with "Purgatory". Purgatory is suppose to be a state of mental anguish or suffering. Or really according to what ever religion you are. But in MY Purgatory, it will be a realm of nothingness where everything, in my opinion could exist. It can be a place where certain creatures live amongst there own, with their own stories and there own worlds to reside in. Hence how I decided to name it "Residents of Purgatory". One character can have it's own story and world, that has no relationship with another character. OR there can be many characters who's relationships coincide with several others lives and stories. For example "The Twins". The Twins were seers of a realm held together on its own, but their realm is not connected to the unstable field of souls in which "The Soul Swallower" and his prison resides. I suppose its a bit difficult and confusing to explain in a post what I'm trying to say, when It's so vividly clear in my brain. Think of it like countries, and people living there own lives and what not. Or maybe one day when we develop a brain wave imagery devices that will be able to portray exactly what someone is thinking into forms of images then you all can understand! But unfortunately until that day, you'll have to just look at the characters and imagine yourself!

It's ALIVE.

HELLO!

The time has finally come. I've been waiting such a long time and have been working extremely hard on a lot of things and so with that said...

Thank you, EVERYONE who has visited, talked about, thought of, or even trashed talked about this page. I have put in sooo much time and effort into setting things up.

Here you can view all my art work I've done recently, Visit my store (when I put it all together) where you can buy prints, contact me to ask questions or even to just say "hello!".

Each piece of art shown has a short (or long) story describing the character.  I will continue to update this page as much as I can with exciting news of upcoming pieces, limited edition characters and stories and items in the store that will be released in the future.

My current art series that are up and running now are called "Depths of the Briny Deep" and "Residents of Purgatory". The will also be a series called "The Daily Damned" which will hold quick drawings that I've done during slow days at work or even out of boredom.

I will post info on a new series, new ideas, new back stories of characters and much more. This will be so much fun and I can only hope you all stick around to join me in this excitement!

Follow me on twitter and instagram, for addition info on things i'll be working on.  If anyone has any ideas of a creature who could possibly become a resident of purgatory or a being whom dwells in the briny deep contact me by email and we can totally discuss a project in the making.

Let's do this!
